Wild Carrot is a diuretic and carminative. Also known as Queen Anne's Lace. The seeds are a beneficial antiseptic diuretic useful in the treatment of cystitis and prostatitis. Also, the seeds are used for the prevention and washing out of gravel and urinary stones. As a diuretic, it helps with dropsy and the elimination of uric acid from the body (thus, used for gout). The seeds, which are high in volatile oil, are soothing to the digestive system, useful for colic and flatulence. Grieve's classic 'A Modern herbal': Diuretic, stimulant deobstruent. An infusion of the whole herb is considered an active and valuable remedy in the treatment of dropsy, chronic kidney diseases and affections of the bladder. The infusion, made from 1 oz. of the herb in a pint of boiling water, is taken in wineglassful doses. Carrot tea, taken night andmorning, and brewed in this manner from the whole front, is considered excellent for a gouty disposition. A strong decoction is very useful in gravel and stone, and is good against flatulence. A fluid extract is also prepared, the dose being from 1/2 to 1 drachm. The seeds are carminative, stimulant and very useful in flatulence, windy colic, hiccough, dysentery, chronic coughs, etc. The dose of the seeds, bruised, is from one-third to one teaspoonful, repeated as necessary. They were at one time considered a valuable remedy for calculus complaints. They are excellent in obstructions of the viscera, in jaundice (for which they were formerly considered a specific), and in the beginnings of dropsies, and are also of service as an emmenagogue. They have a slight aromatic smell and a warm, pungent taste. They communicate an agreeable flavour to malt liquor, if infused in it while working in the vat, and render it a useful drink in scorbutic disorders. King's American Dispensatory. by Harvey Wickes Felter, M.D., and John Uri Lloyd, Phr. M., Ph. D., 1898. Both the root and seeds are mildly stimulant and diuretic. Used in infusion with much success, in dropsy, chronic nephritic affections, and gravel. Also as a carminative, and to relieve strangury from cantharides. Carrot is said to possess emmenagogue properties, and the juice is reputed to relieve pruritis, accompanying some forms of skin disease. The Dispensatory of the United States of America. edited by Joseph P. Remington, Horatio C. Wood and others, 1918. Carrot seeds are slightly aromatic, moderately excitant and diuretic, and have been employed as a diuretic in chronic renal diseases and in dropsy. An ounce of them may be given in infusion, in a day. The flowers are sometimes substituted for the seeds, and the scraped root has been used as a local stimulant to sloughing of indolent ulcers. Indoor gardeners, lacking the Sun, may find that Hps lamps do not supply the necessary amount of blue light to keep plants healthy. Blue light drives photosynthesis, translocates sugars and keeps the immune system working properly. Those growing areas using HPS lamps exclusively in the bloom stages of growth may experience adverse vertical stretching and blooms located only at the top of the plant. It is suggested to burn a Metal Halide lamp along side of the HPS lamp to increase sugar production and horizontal growth. Increased insect attack in the final stages of HPS only bloom growth may also be experienced. Other options would include using Sunmaster Warm Metal Halide lamps that burn at the 3 thousand Kelvin color temperature range.
