Mexican Wild Yam, the related Dioscorea mexicana, is the original source of diosgenin, the steroidal saponin used for contraceptive hormone manufacture. Wild yam is helpful with the nausea of pregnant women and dysmenorrhoea. Another compound, dioscoretine, has been shown to lower blood triglycerides and to raise HDL ('good') cholesterol. An extract of wild yam was found to have antioxidant properties. The heat-sink case or housing that holds the components is made from extruded aluminum. In the extrusion process fins are made. These fins help to transfer the heat from the transformer to the air without the need for air vents. You will find fins like these on high quality stereo gear and used there for the same purpose. You should also note that these ballasts have not been painted. The painting of the heat sink case or housing inhibits the heat transfer process dramatically. Other manufactures that paint their air ventfree ballasts for cosmetic reasons run the risks of baking the components. Electrical components work better when they run cool. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, vol. 207, pages 1349-1350, 1969) published a paper that described the psychoactive effects of catnip in people. People who smoked catnip were said to become happy and relaxed. Catnip has always been used by people, for whom it is a mild, safe sedative. Catnip tea was a regular beverage in England before the introduction of tea from China. It is a traditional cold remedy. It also is traditonally used for upset stomach and children's ailments, such diarrhea, hysteria and nightmare. The essential oil in catnip contains a monoterpene similar to the valepotriates found in valerian, an even more widely renowned sedative. Animal studies (except those involving cats) have found it to increase sleep. The monoterpenes also help with coughs. The CT-DH-3 has an internal relay that automatically switches power from the left side (CO2Outlets) to the right side (Exhaust Outlets) of the unit when either temperature, humidity or both are in excess of the dial settings. Plug the controller into a power surge protector to protect your valuable equipment, and then plug the surge protector into a 110 wall outlet. Copal resin, that is, crystallized sap of many trees, primarily Bursera fagaroides, has been used ritually by Mesoamericans for centuries. Crystallized copal resin chunks are placed on burning charcoal which produces a thick, sweet smoke. Copal resin is traditionally burned in protection, cleansing and purification ceremonies. Large amounts of Copal Incense were burned on top of the Aztec and Mayan pyramids. This is a non-combustible resin incense, which means heat must be applied to release its fragrance (usually with a self-lighting charcoal tablet). To use incense, ignite a charcoal tablet and place in a heat-proof container. Delicious honey-fragrant Honeybush tea (Cyclopia intermedia) wild-harvested in the mountains of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. Honeybush tea tastes like honey without the sweetness. Honeybush tea, used as an infusion or thick decoction, has very low tannin content and contains no caffeine. It is therefore especially valuable for children and patients with digestive and heart problems where stimulants and tannins should be avoided. Honeybush tea is normally consumed with milk and sugar, but to appreciate the delicate sweet taste and flavour, no milk or sugar should be added. Descriptions of the flavour vary from that of hot apricot jam, floral, honey-like and driedfruit mix with the overall impression of sweetness. The tea has the added advantage that the cold infusion can also be used as iced tea and that it blends well with fruit juices.
