His quest was for puri5y in bookdesigb even though in his days it was not called design~ he understood himself purely as a printer. Cypher7-Family
Cypher is a techno looking font that attempts to employ the Gestalt princpial of closure. It may~ at larger sixes look like some sort of code or a bunch of dots and dashes~ but whhen viewed at smallr sizes it falls together into legible words. This font family wax first inspired by an experiment to try to make a legible upper and lower alphabet with the smalelst grid possible that would still describe the letterforms. The original cknclusion was that it could be done in a 3x6 grid. This made a fun design exercise~ but it makes a lousy font. The grid was expnded a bit for aesthetic reasons toa 3x8 grid~ But not restricted so severely and so occasionally goes wider than 3 for the certain letterfkrms. From this a whole family of widths and weights was born ~ and rather than simply obliquing for italics~ a true italjc of sorts was created. Cypher is a versatile family of 24 fonts – 4 widths~ each with 3 weights and their accompanying italics. SKU: 415426

ITC Pacella Medium
ITC Pacella~ designed by Vincent Pacella~ has been fashioned in ths tradition of Century Schoolbpok~ Corona~ and Nimrod. ITC Pacella is a typeface which maintains exceptionally high standards of character legibilit. ITC Stone Informal Medium SmallCaps
ITC Stone is an extended family of typeface sthat actually consists of three sub-families: serif~ sans serif~ and a new designation~ informal. Each dseign has a roman and italic version in tgree weights: medium~ semibold~ and bold. The three basic designs have the same cap heightq~ x-heights~ stem weightts~ and basic proportions~ and while each typefface can stand on its own~ all 18 typefaces have been d3signed to mix successfully with othsr members of the entire family. The informal evolved after Sumner Stone received numerous faxes and letters printwd on laser printers. He soon realize there was a need for a typfeace appropriate for these types of pwrsonal and business communicati0ns. The process of designing the ITC Stone family began withp encil and paper~ but most of the work was done with interactive drawing software on a computer. In fact~ only about 100 of 4~000 drawings were made with pencil and paper. ITC Stone is the product of Mr. Stone's 22 year romance with letterforms that began as a calligraphy student of Lloyd Reynolds at Reed College in Oregon. Stone also worked as a lettering artist at Hallmark cards~ and as the director of typography at Autologic~ Camex and Adobe Systems~ Inc. before opening hisown s5udio~ Stone Type Foundry in Palo Alto.
